It's safe to say that Austin's five-month birthday (if that's what you call it) snuck up on me and Joe. We are thrilled to have such a healthy, happy baby, and we're in awe of how much she has grown and changed in such a short amount of time!
When I was thinking about what to write for her five-month post, several things crossed my mind. But one topic felt more pertinent than any other:
Sometimes, people are wonderful!
In the midst of upsetting news and political childishness, it is easy to become disillusioned. Hate appears prevalent, the future looks bleak, and it seems like we can't do a thing to make a difference.
But today I want to take a second and thank all the people in my life who have been gracious and loving, specifically toward my child.
Austin is so blessed to be surrounded by countless people who smile at her, talk to her, hold her, kiss her, and laugh with her (even when she pulls their hair or spits up on their clothes). Family members and friends who don't get to see her as much tell us how beautiful she is and how happy they are that she's happy.
Our daughter is constantly encouraged, constantly protected, and constantly loved.
It's impossible for me to say thank you enough to the people in our lives who care for our child in such selfless and genuine ways. That level of kindness is incredible, and I don't know what Joe and I would do without it.
So, even though things will continue to go wrong and some days will still be difficult to face, I find comfort and encouragement in knowing that God has surrounded me and my family with people who love Him and, by extension, love us really well.
Thank you, God, for the amazing people you've put in our lives. And thank you for making them wonderful!
